RadarOnline first reported the news but I was holding off on posting it until we received some sort of confirmation about how truthful the story was.
Radar’s Report:
RadarOnline.com witnessed the Twilight star get clipped by a cab around noon in front of the Strand Bookstore on Broadway and 12th Street.

He was not hurt.
The 23-year-old London-born actor had been inside most of the morning filming scenes for his new movie Remember Me.
A team of five security guards were trying to fend off a crowd of teenaged girls when Robert was leaving the bookstore.
It was pouring rain as they tried to hustle him quickly across the busy street to the safety of his trailer.
Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Robert rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him. The cabbie slammed on his brakes as soon as he realized what had happened.
It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed and the fans: “You see what you did, you almost killed him!”
I wondered how truthful it was because Radar was the only site reporting the news. Word quickly spread on Twitter. Fortunately RobPattzNews was able to confer with his management that this did happen.
Ok, what the hell. I can’t believe what I’m reading, this is making me so sad and yet the hulk rage is building up as well. After everything that happened earlier this week, the fan girls STILL haven’t learned their lesson?? BACK THE FUCK OFF!! Rob is NOT your personal Edward. In fact he in not your personal anything. That means NO TOUCHING & NO CHASING. This has gone way too far because it would have been a lot more serious than it was. The man was clipped by a fucking cab for Christ’s sake. Have you ever been in an NYC taxi? Those guys are wackos behind the wheel. This could have been a lot worse!
Do people even stop and think of the consequences of their actions??!?! I’m not even going to write out my worst nightmare scenario of this news story. But just think about it for a second. Be decent!

A spokesperson for the studio states:
“Robert Pattinson is fine. The reports are exaggerated, and the accident was not caused by fans. Production continues.”
The Summit rep refused to say what did cause the cabbie accident, or whether or not additional precautions were being taken for Pattinson.

I know for one I felt really guilty this week for possibly contributing to the madness because I posted information about Remember Me’s filming locations. It is sad that there are LOTS of fans out there who aren’t distinguishing between Robert and a fictional vampire character. Robert isn’t Edward and he’s never going to be. Robert does happen to be a good looking guy — but going to a set isn’t about getting close to him. It should be about possibly getting a chance to see him work (from a distance) and that’s pretty much it. In no way should someone go to a shoot thinking they’re going to get to live out their Edward fantasies – it’s not gonna happen.ever.
If you’re a real fan of him. Give him his space, respect his privacy – and if you happen to be close enough for a picture – don’t run up like a sack of crazy … just ask nicely.
I’m thinking set-stalking falls into the same category as first dates. Act normal, be polite and nice … and hold your crazy in for later.
